FemHealth was built from a personal experience of navigating a serious women's health crisis and discovering how scattered, incomplete, and gender-unbalanced the available research evidence was. From pre-eclampsia to endometriosis to autoimmune conditions, the evidence base for conditions that primarily affect women is thinner, harder to find, and often built on study populations that excluded women.
The idea for FemHealth emerged during a medical crisis that required making critical decisions within 72 hours — requiring searching across 15+ sources to find relevant research. Most of the studies found gave no indication of whether the evidence applied to the patient in question. FemHealth was built to fix that.
FemHealth searches PubMed, Europe PMC, and OpenAlex simultaneously. For every result, it surfaces gender balance scores, participant counts, exclusion criteria, open access status, and study quality signals — all in the search result card, before you open the paper.
FemHealth is in active development. Core search across three major databases is live. Gender bias detection, sample size extraction, and exclusion flagging are operational. Features in development include condition-level equity analysis, institutional research profiles, and expanded traditional medicine database coverage.
